Morson Hughes was primarily a landscape painter in oils.
Born on 16th April 1873 he was educated at Sevenoaks in Kent.
He studied at Lambeth School of Art and South London Technical Art School.
He married fellow artist Eleanor Waymouth.
He exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, the New English Art Club, Manchester City Art Gallery, the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, the International Society, Goupil Gallery, the Grosvenor Gallery, the Alpine Club Gallery and 24 times at the Royal Academy.
Leeds City Art Gallery holds his work. He lived at St Buryan in Cornwall for many years and died on 6th February 1953.
