
Frank Taylor has had more than twenty-five solo shows in London and the South of England. He works in a variety of painting media and his subjects are drawn from observation, memory and imagination. Many images are based upon memories of travels in Europe, Turkey and North Africa.
He has exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the New English Art Club and the Royal Watercolour Society. His work is shown at the London Contemporary Art Fair, the Chelsea Art Fair, the City of London Art Fair and the Glasgow Art Fair. He has been a finalist in several national painting competitions including the Singer & Friedlander/ Sunday times, the Hunting, the Spink and the Laing. Frank’s paintings were selected for the 1996 and 1997 Laing limited edition calendars.
Frank’s paintings and prints have been shown in several leading commercial galleries including Courcoux & Courcoux, the Bohun, CCA Galleries, the Roy Miles Gallery, Cadogan Contemporary, the Peter Hedley Gallery, the Rooksmoor and the Brian Sinfield Gallery, along with several public galleries and museums. His work is in numerous public, company and private collections in this country and around the world.
His paintings are extensively represented in all the editions of the Miller’s Picture Price Guides.
Frank’s limited edition prints are published by Castlebar Graphics and CCA Galleries. Posters of his work are published by the Art Group.
Having studied Fine Art at Bucks, Cardiff and Brighton Colleges of Art, Frank worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for several years. He held senior posts at Amersham School of Art and Salisbury College of Art, and was an external moderator at Kingston College and Chelsea School of Art. He left Salisbury College, where he ran the Department of Fine Art & Graphics, in 1989 in order to travel and pursue his career as a painter.
Frank lived for more than twenty years in Cookham-on-Thames, but in 1996 he moved with his wife and young son to a house on the North Downs near Albury.
