Rory graduated from the Chelsea School of Art in 1988. Early in his painting career his reputation stemmed from work featuring urban and industrial landscapes. A strong emphasis on natural and man-made structures was evident, with each work displaying a vibrant textural component, encouraging the viewer to look closely at the form and materials.
Rory has recently enjoyed recreating landscapes and sea scenes in his vibrant individual style. His work is richly atmospheric and often captures the essence of time and place. His seascapes – where earth, sea and sky meet – are particularly evocative and capture the airy wildness of the setting.
He has exhibited widely, both in mixed and solo shows, and has contributed on a number of occasions to the Royal Academy Summer Show.
